Self Supporting Leonardo DaVinchi Bridge

December 29th, 2010 by

The self supporting bridge is hard enough to make one, but to connect two together, well, that’s something else. Putting two of the bridges together makes it about 26″ high, and about 4′ across. It broke about five times, but with the help of my dad, we were able to get it.

Hunger Games Questions

May 16th, 2010 by

My question from the evaluation category: Do you think that it is good that Peeta saved Katniss from Cato? Explain.

I think that is was both good and bad that Peeta saved her from Cato, because Cato would have killed both of them, or Katniss would have been killed by Peeta, and that would ruin the whole point of the story because the story is in present tense, and she was telling the story, so she has to win.  It is also little bad because because he saved her, he had to get a whole new robotic leg.  Cato also cut him in a spot where it wold either kill him or damage him to the point where he would loose a leg (which he did loose a leg, but he got a new robotic leg type thing). Peeta was demobilized by the cut, but he was able to walk again when Katniss gave him the medicine to have him live.

My second question: If the pack of wolves hadn’t have come out to kill the Victors, would have Cato survived leaving Katniss and Peeta dead?

My answer: Well, yes Cato would have survived, but I think that because he only has one shot with only a spear, where as there are tow opponents, so if he took out only Katniss, Peeta would be able to kill Cato. Also, Katniss has plenty of shots with her bow, and it is easier to shoot at a farther distance than using a spear, and it also takes less time to shoot an arrow. But if Cato had hunted them down after a while, then things could have changed, such as Katniss and Peeta would have run out of supplies and then they would have to go back to their hiding spot, or Cato would have killed them form the trees.

The Hunger Games

May 10th, 2010 by

The book The Hunger Games is about a new generation of North America. The entire continent was hit by Natural disasters.  The continent started to fall apart, and after a while, became a much smaller place.  It was a whole new place; with thirteen different sections and the a “capitol” in the center. It was a new era for North America. People lived in the capitol and the thirteen districts. The capitol, of course was in charge. The thirteen districts join forces to take down the capitol, but twelve districts were defeated, and the thirteenth was vaporized. The Capitol was angry at the thirteen districts, (you could say 12) so they created the hunger games. In these games, two children from each district (one boy and one girl) between the age of 12 and 16, would compete in a game to the death to show them who was boss.

Katniss of district twelve and her family were starving to death. They had very little food to eat because her mom was always sick and her dad, well, is resting in peace. Katniss was forced to take up the responsibility of taking care of the family, when her sister’s name was drawn to play in the hunger games. Katniss rushes forward to take her spot (which is legal). She then goes on an adventure to the capital that is full of surprises, such as having a suit the lights on fire.

Snakehead

April 21st, 2010 by

Right now I am reading a book called Snakehead. Snakehead is -if you’ve been reading my posts lately- is in the Alex Rider Series. (Order of the books so far: Stormbreaker, Point Blank, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, Ark Angel, Snakehead, and the latest book, Crocodile Tears) Right now, I think that Snakehead is the best in the series so far. If you didn’t know this, the books are written by Anthony Horowitz (He lives in the UK, not the US).

This week for an assignment, and it was to answer these two questions (it could be two or one, and I chose two):

(I will answer the questions under the questions stated below)

Do you like this book and why?

I like this book because the book is in the genre that I like, which is science fiction. I also like this book because I’ve read all the other books in the series (other than Crocodile Tears), and I really like them. I also like this book because of the plot lines. The plot lines in all of the books are the same, but different at the same time. In all of the books so far, someone or a group of people try to do something to earth or something like that, but then, all of the people are different at the same time (other than Alex, John, Ian Rider, Sabina Pleasure and Jack Starbright). I also like how Anthony Horowitz writes. He has Alex meet the “bad guy” first before he kills him (that’s happened in all of the books so far… first person was killed by a series of shots to the chest, second his helicopter exploded, third, he suicided, fourth, killed by a jet turbine, fifth, fell of a blimp high in the air, and sixth his plane was shot and fell to the ground with an explosion). I also like that (this not being a bad thing) has highly violent action.

What do you want to remember about this book?

Somethings that I want to remember from this book are the charterer in the book and their roll in the book, what the plot line was, the main idea of the story, the purpose of writing the book and why he wrote the book. I also want to remember how Alex solved the problem and what the problem was and if it would effect Alex or not. I also want to remember Ash. I want to remember him because his initials ASH, and I know that Anthony Horowitz’s initials are AH, so if AH’s middle initial started with a S, the he probably chose the name Ash for a reason. This might also might lead to something about him not having enough names for charterers.
